Khristina Manansala. Modern Cubist

Khristina Manansala is a contemporary Filipino artist known for her modern cubist style infused with surrealistic elements. Born in Manila, Philippines, she is the granddaughter of National Artist Vicente Manansala, a pioneer of Transparent Cubism. Growing up surrounded by her grandfather’s art, Khristina initially pursued a corporate career before transitioning to full-time painting. She now works from her serene and tranquil art studio in the cool and breezy elevated part of Cavite, where she creates vibrant works featuring vivid colors, intricate patterns, and recurring motifs such as butterflies, koi, owls, geishas, and checkerboards.

While deeply influenced by her grandfather’s legacy, she has developed her own distinct voice, blending Filipino themes with Japanese-inspired aesthetics. Her notable works include Five Geishas, Market Scene (2023), and reinterpretations of classic Manansala subjects like Madonna and Child. Khristina has exhibited widely in the Philippines, including solo shows such as Gunita - Remembering Manansala, in Artologist Gallery Shangri-la Plaza, where she curated a heartfelt exhibition to commemorate her grandfather’s 114th birth anniversary, Golden Tales and Feline Fortune at Viventis Search Asia in Shangri-la Hotel that showcased her signature blend of modern cubism, vibrant colors and whimsical motifs and group exhibitions with her all female group, Grupo Artistiko. Her paintings are held in private collections in the Philippines and abroad. Through her art, Khristina honors her family heritage while forging a unique identity that celebrates cultural uniqueness and personal narrative. Khristina Manansala has participated in numerous exhibitions, primarily in the Philippines, with some international showings.
